Southern Living "Idea House"

This is the Southern Living "Idea House", just down the road from Oxford, in tiny Taylor, MS. Shocking, I know, and totally awesome. You may find yourself suspicious on the drive in, considering it's not exactly urbanized. The stray dogs scattered along Old Taylor Road and the lovely stench of animal life might tempt you to turn around, but the drive is totally worth it. And on a sunny day, gorgeous! There's also un petit restaurant and antique store out there, perfect for a Saturday afternoon. And of course, the famous Taylor Grocery for you catfish enthusiasts and brown-baggers alike (pictured below). Of course, if you can't make it out to Taylor, take the virtual tour of the house here.

Style in Faulkner Country

Coming to the South, more specifically Mississippi, I never thought I'd encounter anything resembling innovative style. Classic and refined, yes. Modern and eclectic, never. After watching Gone With the Wind and reading The Sound and the Fury, I was convinced that I was venturing into ancient territory full of hoop skirts and overalls.

You can imagine my surprise when I walked on the square in Oxford and found many a fashionista. The style here is both fresh and classic! People bring their own touch to things and are always poised.

After being an Oxford resident for close to five years, I'm dying to share the amazingly artistic, chic and intellectual side of the South with everyone else!!
