Hungry like the Wolfe

To say that I like Tom Wolfe would be a huge understatement. The Bonfire of the Vanities, The Right Stuff , and I am Charlotte Simmons are some of my favorite books of all time. And we all know I love a good read.

So when I stumbled across some photos of Wolfey's office on The Selby I couldn't be more thrilled! Here are some of my favoritos but be sure to check out the rest when you get a chance.

This lamp is the bee's knees. Can't get over it.

Kanye West: Ode to Style

(sartorialist)

It was a love affair that began during my last year at boarding school: The College Dropout was released, and I was officially hooked. The internet font-usage controversy, the minor incident with T. Swift at the VMAs, the Katrina telecast outburst-- it all means nothing to me. My heart belongs to Mr. West.

(style.com)

Not only do his tunes get me pumped for a night out with my ladiez, they make me say things like "my word, Lord Kanye, you are quite clever and witty,"  "damn, I wish I were Amber Rose," and " I will pass that Ver-say-see".

(style.com)

But beyond the music, beyond the dating history, Kanye is much more to me: my number one style icon. Even more than Iris Apfel, if you can believe it.

(style.com)

He reinvents classics, keeps them fresh, and manages to always look "sharp" as my dad would say.
After interning with Louis V, I think it's safe to say he's a true fashionisto.

(sartorialist)

I would love so much to interview him for my Stylish Boys series. I think I'll send a quick text to his agent and see if he's available.

Until then, I will retweet him, imagine we are besties, and lust after his allusive wardrobe.

I leave you now with some wise words from the man himself:

"We buy our way out of jail but we can't buy freedom,
we buy a lot of clothes but we don't really need them,
Things we buy to cover up what's inside."

Well said, sir, well said.

Birthday Bow

Feeling inspired by Blair Waldorf, one of of my fashion icons, I decided to treat myself to a little early birthday present and order this little sale item from Anthropologie!

And in an effort to disguise my hideous bangs (literally the worst choice of my adult life) I plan on wearing my big bow proudly, even though I'm turning 23-- not 3.

What do you guys think about headbands? I'm a bit obsessed but am I behind the times?

xoxo

Gossip Girl

Feminine Overload

I think that living with two boys (Pauly and Bisky) has started to get to me-- I simply do not have enough femininity in my life! Today I have decided to compile a selection from my "archives" (iPhoto library) of super-girly things that make my heart flutter and imagine living in a world of feminine overlad. While I may not have hot pink velvet carpet in my dressing room, I can always dream!

I have tea in the garden here with my best girlfriends.

I contemplate my sun-dresses and high heels in here.

I eat these for breakfast every morning accompanied by hot chocolate. Extra sprinkles.

I only use hot pink candles.....obvi.

There is an altar to Audrey in my basement.

My fabulous and fuzzy bedroom--Brigitte has a special place in my heart (same birthday!).

I swear they just grow in there like that.

Coffee table pour moi.

Lunch.

The usual 'do.

Hmmm....

A little girly goes a long way. I think I'll stick with my boyish influences.

New House Overload

Don't y'all just LOVE the new house?? It's a little small for my taste, and obviously a fixer-upper but I guess you get what you pay for.

HA.

Currently we're living in a very quaint (code for wee) apartment, and I think it needs a facelift. We've got quite the hodgepodge of furniture, and I'd like to get some more modern things to spruce things up around here. I stopped by WordsWorth Books the other day (a lovely recommendation from my friend Liza) and picked up an Elle Decor for some ideas. Of course, the first page I flip open to is an ad for John Derian for Target!

How could I have forgotten?! I had heard rumblings and read blurbs about it for a while and it had completely slipped my mind. Well, I wish it hadn't, because most of it is sold out now! Quelle dommage.
But there is hope... a few great things remain, including:

This set of floral salad plates (perhaps not gender neutral enough? whatevs) would be so cute for well, salad, but also for birthday cake and I like the idea of having one for keys or something.

Aren't these funky dining plates cool? I'm usually partial to the classic white dish for everyday, but I like the look of these bad boys.

Well, slightly disappointed in the lack of available product from Target, I headed over to Overstock to peruse coffee tables and other things we need. Sooooo impressed.

Acrylic is so hot right now! And I dig the magazine storage (considering my mag addiction I can never have enough). They also have these nesting tables:

And I'm also digging this more sophisticated option:

All of them can be found on Overstock.com! I'm still deciding, but I'm also going to check out some local flea markets (so so so excited) before I make any big purchases. I'll be sure to update!

Do you guys have any great sites to check out? Or know of any great flea markets in or around Arkansas?

Table or Two

I was cruising around Habitually Chic a minute ago and clicked on one of the ads for Lamshop. So glad I did! They're a furniture company based in Charlotte, and they also sell their stuff in NYC. And umm....how fabulous is the Ming Coffee Table above? As always, I've got a new obsession.

They also make a wee version for a side table.

I'm dying for both in their tortoise pattern!

Then again, I would take a car in tortoise if that were possible.

Of course they've got plenty more stuff for sale, and I can't get enough!

And the best part about Lamshop? According to their website, it was started by two southern girls (graduates of UGA!) with a knack for design. I love to support my fellow SECers and even more so if they've got great style.

Check out their website stat!

Chairman of the Board

I've been meaning to post about this chair from Urban Outfitters for a century. I spotted it in a design magazine a long time ago and have been lusting after it ever since. I love ikat and the vintagey design is fabulous!

Hope you all are having a great weekend!

Concours D'Elegance

Every year, the community of Pebble Beach, CA is invaded with fabulous old cars and their even more fabulous owners for the Concours d'Elegance. I went to boarding school right down the road and seeing these pictures of the event brought me back! Check them out.

And if you get a chance, book at trip to Pebble Beach/Carmel. Seriously-- the best place on Earth.
